Drainage Formula 1 Race Track Hanoi Street Circuit

The Hanoi Street Circuit is the first Formula 1 motorsport circuit in Vietnam. The race track, which was designed for the Vietnam Grand Prix, covers 5,607 kilometres and 23 curves. The highlight is a 1.5-kilometre-long straight, on which the vehicles can reach top speeds of 335 km/h. Safe drainage is ensured by a channel system that can withstand surface loads and dynamic forces generated by these enormous speeds.

Safety according to FIA standards

The drainage system must not only fit precisely into this existing street circuit, but must also comply with the high standards and regulations required by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). HAURATON’s project management team, with its many years of accumulated knowledge and expertise in designing drainage schemes for racing circuits, provided advice regarding suitable drainage systems that can withstand the high loads and forces imposed by F1 racing cars.

Precise installation in the shortest construction time

The construction schedule for the Hanoi Street Circuit was very tight, leaving little time for the installation of drainage systems. The channels had to be laid precisely with a +/- 2 mm tolerance to avoid raised sharp edges on the racing surface. RECYFIX HICAP T drainage system was chosen for curved locations on the circuit, along with FASERFIX SUPER channels for cable routing in the pit lane area. Thanks to the close cooperation of all those involved in the project, the installation was completed accurately and on time despite the tight schedule.

In pit lane areas and turns along the circuit, robust and durable drainage trenches were used that were neatly integrated and followed precisely the course of the track.

The RECYFIX HICAP T channel system is characterised by its large drainage capacity and high retention volume. The integrated drainage inlets are made of extremely robust ductile iron and can be individually aligned to follow surface features. This drainage channel is particularly suitable for the highest loads and forces up to 60 tons wheel load and about 180 tons total weight (load class F 900).

FASERFIX SUPER trench

The FASERFIX SUPER channels impressed with their robust structural design, incorporating strong, durable and impact-resistant materials as well as with thicker trench wall and base dimensions compared with alternative systems. The system can safely withstand the extreme loads and high dynamic forces imposed on the track during a race event.

  • Covers securely fixed with 8 bolts per metre; achieves 16 locking points in one unit for extra strength and safety
